Brace yourselves, “Pretty Little Liars” fans. The dark and twisted shenanigans in Rosewood are going to take a deadly turn when the summer finale airs on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Last time “Pretty Little Liars” viewers left off, Melissa had come clean to Spencer about what she knew from the night that Alison went missing. Caleb opened up to Hanna about the supernatural happenings in Ravenswood, and the girls began to suspect Alison of something horrifying …being the person behind “A.” Lt. Tanner revealed that one of the girls was going to the police to tell all, forcing the group to begin hatching a plan to stay above the water if Alison talked.

Episode 12, “Taking This One To The Grave,” will serve as the mid-season finale for Season 5. And while viewers might be devastated to bid adieu to Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna, the drama in store will be totally worth the painful goodbye.

According to a synopsis for the summer finale, the girls will have completely turned on Alison – but not in the same way that Alison turned on them. Their former best friend has been “leading them down a dangerous path,” and because “A” is preventing them from going to the police, the teens will be forced to resort to drastic measures.

“Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer feel trapped and are desperate to find a way out of this mess,” teases the synopsis.

So, what’s the game plan? The girls will turn to an “unlikely person for help.” The synopsis continues that the mysterious person could be a “possibly untrustworthy ally.” But with Alison building her own army, there are no other avenues for Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna to explore. As for who this new ally could be? Mona, Jenna, Sydney, Noel, Melissa, Byron … in a town full of Alison’s enemies, anyone is possible.

The real shocker will come by the end of the mid-season finale … when someone will die.
