Prince Andrew Is Sarah Ferguson’s ‘Knight,’ Duke Saved Duchess From ‘Unhappiness’ Inside Palace
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have a unique and very special relationship. Even though their marriage ended in divorce, they have maintained an amicable relationship with each other.
Shortly after their marriage ended, Ferguson released her biography called “My Story.” In her book, the mom of two gushed over the “playboy” prince and called him her knight in shining armor. Ferguson also said that it was Prince Andrew who saved her from her unhappiness while she was living inside the palace.
Buckingham Palace is a very huge property that houses 600 rooms. However, Ferguson and Prince Andrew were just confined to the six rooms inside the palace. But according to Princess Beatrice’s mom, this didn’t matter as long as she was with Prince Andrew.
“When you’re in love, anything goes. Your field of vision is lit from within. Drab wallpaper did not matter; I put out my own throbbing glow. Our apartment faced out on the Queen Victoria memorial – the ‘Wedding Cake’ – and The Mall,” she said.
Ferguson also called Prince Andrew her rock and someone like her needs constant support. She said that she felt very secure during their marriage, and she didn’t worry about anything.
The Duchess of York also revealed that several times a week at exactly 11:15, the palace would change its Guards. The clatter reportedly made the phone calls impossible, but Ferguson enjoyed watching the show.
“How amazing to be seeing it from inside out, from here within the Palace, the place I now called home,” she said.
Unfortunately for Ferguson, she wasn’t able to live inside Buckingham Palace for very long. Just six years after she and Prince Andrew tied the knot, the couple went their separate ways. And four years after their separation, their divorce was finalized.
Following their divorce, Prince Andrew and Ferguson continued to co-parent their two daughters. And recent reports revealed that the former couple is still living together in the Royal Lodge.
