Prince Charles Allegedly ‘Disappointed’ Camilla Won’t Be Queen Despite Their Efforts

- Prince Charles wants Camilla to be queen consort
- Camilla will be given princess consort title
Prince Charles will reportedly be disappointed to know that his wife, Camilla, won’t be queen consort when he ascends the throne.
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Clarence House confirmed that there have been no changes when it comes to Camilla’s future role. Years ago, they said that the Duchess of Cornwall will be called a princess consort when Prince Charles becomes king.
While speaking with Express, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that this decision will be disappointing to Prince Charles especially after all of the efforts he and Camilla have exerted over the years.
“I think this is a practical response to polls which show her as personally popular. There is an appreciation for her charitable work especially for sufferers from domestic abuse and from osteoporosis. She and the Prince of Wales are obviously so happy together but on this, the vast majority remain opposed,” he said.
“Charles may well be disappointed. He did after all indicate to NBC in 2010 that she might take the title of Queen Consort. At the moment the main objective is to stabilize the monarchy and reconnect with the public whilst having a positive press. It has been a very difficult few months,” the royal commentator added.
Last month, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter told Express that it is highly likely for Prince Charles to insist for Camilla to adopt her rightful title as the wife of the king.
“‘Princess Consort’ remains the official Palace line, but when the day finally dawns, I suspect Charles will insist his wife adopt her rightful title. To accept anything less would be to admit fault and, this many years on, it strikes me as unnecessarily cautious for Camilla to be Queen Consort in all but name,” Arbiter said.
As of late, there is no word as to when Prince Charles will ascend the throne. His coronation will most likely take place after Queen Elizabeth passes away because she will never abdicate.
