Prince Charles Shares Final Conversation With Late Dad Prince Philip

Prince Charles got candid about the final conversation he had with Prince Philip before the latter passed away.

The Prince of Wales, 72, shared the last conversation he had with the late Duke of Edinburgh days before his death in a new clip from the BBC documentary "Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers." Daily Mail obtained a clip of the poignant interview with Prince Charles about his late dad.

"We're talking about your birthday," Prince Charles told Prince Philip during their conversation.

The heir apparent was aware that his father wasn't keen on the idea and was also slightly having difficulty hearing. So, he repeated himself a little louder, "We're talking about your birthday! And whether there's going to be reception!"

"Well, I've got to be alive for it, haven't I?" Prince Philip replied.

"I knew you'd say that," Prince Charles told his father.

Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry are all part of the upcoming BBC One programmed documentary. On the show, the three royals and the other members of the family will be recalling their fondest and funniest memories with Prince Philip who died on April 9 at the age of 99. He was supposed to celebrate his 100th birthday on June 10.

Daily Mail's Robert Hardman wrote and co-produced the program. He was also part of the interviews Prince Charles and the other royals did for the show.

According to the outlet, Prince William shared a hilarious anecdote about his late grandfather. On an outing on the Queen's Balmoral estate, they stumbled across a group of young walkers undertaking an expedition and Prince Philip greeted them.

"He stopped and wound down his window and said, 'Good morning. How are you getting on?' To which the smallest young chap at the back turned around and effectively said, 'Jog on Grandpa,'" the Duke of Cambridge recalled.

Prince William said the response was actually ruder than what he shared. His grandfather turned to him and said, "The youth of today!" Prince William found the whole exchange hilarious.

Following Prince Philip's passing, the second in line to the throne recalled how his granddad had been "a huge presence behind everything we've done." He was thankful for Prince Philip's "enduring presence" from his childhood to adulthood and for his kindness to his wife, Kate Middleton, and the special memories with his kids.

"What you see is what you got with my grandfather. He was unapologetically him," Prince Harry said of his late grandfather.

"Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers" will premiere in the U.K. on Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. on BBC One. A U.S. premiere date has not been announced.
