Prince Charles ‘Sticks To His Guns,’ Doesn’t Hear Those Who Don’t Believe Him

Prince Charles has employed a wonderful tactic to make sure that he would stay true to his beliefs even amid all of the criticisms that he receives.

During his interview in the upcoming documentary about his Duchy of Cornwall, the heir to the throne said that he is sticking to his guns even amid the public criticism regarding his farming methods.

“Everybody was against it. Having seen what had happened in the past, the land had been sold and a developer had come along and built in a way that I felt was no longer appropriate. I wanted to make sure we, that this time we did it in a more sustainable way,” he said.

Prince Charles went on to say that a lot of people said that his farming methods are completely uneconomic so everyone was against it. But in the end, he decided to follow his gut and he has done a wonderful thing.

“I’ve gone on regardless of the endless criticism and carping and shouting and screaming because I’ve always believed in the long term. I hope I’ll see the end of Poundbury being built because I want to be able to potter around on a stick in my dotage saying ‘Gosh look at this,’” he said.

The future King is preparing to take over the Duchy of Cornwall after spending 50 years in charge of the estate. The Duchy of Cornwall covers more than 130,000 acres across 23 countries. It was established by Edward III to provide private income for his son and the heir to the throne, the Black Prince.

In the documentary, Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla, also opened up about how important Duchy of Cornwall is to the dad of two. She said that it is not just a business for her husband but it is really something that he’s passionate about.

Meanwhile, Prince William is also interviewed in “Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall.” He said that when he takes over the fast estate, he won’t be rocking the boat and will continue to follow his dad’s footsteps.
