Prince Charles Told Camilla A Hilarious Statement In Their Leaked Bedtime Chat
Prince Charles once said a hilarious statement to Camilla Parker Bowles while they were in the bedroom.
The couple’s conversation was leaked several years ago while Prince Charles was still married to Princess Diana, and it became known as the “Camillagate” or the “Tampongate.”
Prince Charles and Camilla’s bedtime conversation took place in 1989, which was just three years before the Prince and Princess of Wales announced their separation. The transcript of the tape remained hidden until 1993 when it was published by the national papers.
People published a transcript of the royal couple’s conversation on Jan. 17, 1993 and titled it “Charles and Camilla – the tape.” In the recording, Prince Charles told his fling that he will just live inside Camilla’s trousers because this would be much easier.
Camilla replied to Prince Charles in a joking manner by asking him if this meant that he would turn into a pair of knickers. The two of them ended up laughing before Prince Charles said that he could very well be a Tampax.
The Duchess of Cornwall then calls Prince Charles a complete idiot and jokes that he has a wonderful idea.
“My luck to be chucked down a lavatory and go on and on forever swirling around on top, never going down,” Prince Charles said.
After the release of the tape, Princess Diana reacted to it by saying that it made her sick. In the book “Guarding Diana: Protecting the Princess Around the World,” former protection officer Ken Wharfe said that he was with Princess Diana when she read the transcript of Prince Charles and Camila’s conversation.
“Later, however, she told me that she had been genuinely shocked by some of the baser comments, particularly the Prince’s tampon reference. ‘It’s just sick,’ she said repeatedly,” Wharfe said.
The former protection officer said that it wasn’t only Princess Diana that was shocked by the tape. Other figures were also appalled by what they read.
