Prince Charles Will Provide Financial Support To Harry, Meghan; British Taxpayers Will Pay
KEY POINTS
- Prince Charles will support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle financially
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need security in Canada
- British taxpayers will pay for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's security
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have announced their bombshell exit from the royal family, but this doesn’t mean that they will be cut off completely.
The royal couple can no longer use their royal titles, and they will no longer be receiving funding from the royal family. But according to royal commentator Omid Scobie, things are not as easy as they seem.
Prince Charles will continue to provide private financial support to the royal couple. And even though Prince Harry is worth $40 million and Markle is worth $7 million, this is just one of the ways for Prince Charles to strengthen his relationship with his son and daughter-in-law.
Scobie also said that Prince Harry and Markle could still make public appearances with the royal family on certain occasions such as the Trooping the Colour.
Meanwhile, the British taxpayers won’t stop paying for Prince Harry and Markle’s needs. During his interview with Sky News, royal expert Dickie Arbiter said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would also need security when they move to Canada.
Any decision on securing funding for the royal couple would have to pass through the Canadian Cabinet and Parliament before the money is released. As such, before this happens, Prince Harry and Markle’s security cost would have to be paid for by British taxpayers first.
Once the Canadian Cabinet and Parliament release the money to fund the royal couple’s security, this would mean that Canadian taxpayers would be paying for Prince Harry and Markle’s needs.
“It will have to happen because Harry has served in the army and is a risk. Prince Harry is a terrorist target and he has to be protected. Therefore, for the time being, Scotland Yard will continue guarding him and Meghan until a time they come up with an alternative plan,” Arbiter said.
As of late, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry, and Markle have not yet commented on their security and funding.
