Prince George, Charlotte Will Have More Royal Duties Than Meghan Markle’s Baby

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will take on more royal duties compared to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will soon welcome the new addition to their family. Unlike the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s kids, Prince Harry and Markle’s baby will get to enjoy a more “normal” childhood but there will still be some pressure. As for royal duties, Prince William and Middleton’s kids are expected to take on more roles.

“There will be plenty of royal duties for them to do, and less and less for Harry's child to do,” Dr. Jonathan Spangler of Manchester Metropolitan University said.

Prince George is the third-in-line to the throne so more is expected from him as he will be the next king after Prince William. His siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are expected to be full-time working royals when they grow up.

“But Harry and Meghan's child will still be expected to live up to a certain standard,” he continued.

Prince Harry was also held to a much higher scrutiny. When he was younger he made headlines due to a number of controversies including his stripping naked in Las Vegas, dressing up in a Nazi costume and getting into fights with paparazzi.

When Prince William’s brother was in Eton, he was expected to be a teenager but was not allowed to be one. Spangler warned that this “problem will recur again in the next generation.”

Prince Harry and Markle’s baby may or may not receive the HRH titles depending on the Queen. According to royal expert Imogen Lloyd Webber, it’s unlikely for Queen Elizabeth II to grant the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s child a royal title because the “monarchy needs to be slimmed down.”

If Prince Harry and Markle’s children will not be HRH, they can start business ventures or do whatever they want.

“Harry and Meghan's baby could grow up to be a bit more normal, or as normal as they can be in this media-centred world,” he added. However, they will still be “very much in the public eye.“

In related news, Markle may give birth to her baby this week. The odds of the Duchess of Sussex giving birth this week have been slashed to 2/1. The spokesperson for Paddy Power said that the baby could even arrive as a “perfect distraction” to the UK’s latest Brexit departure on Friday.
