Prince Harry Changes Diapers, Sings Lullabies To Baby Archie
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can get all the help they need with raising their child, but they’re still very hands-on. The Duke of Sussex is apparently taking on all the fatherly duties he can for baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
“He’s the kind of dad who doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty,” a royal insider told Us Weekly in the Aug. 12 print edition.
Prince Harry is changing dirty diapers, burping Archie and cleaning spit-up. He is singing some off-key lullabies too. It sounds like Harry loves the dad life. He isn’t even being prodded to help out by Meghan. Sources say the Duchess of Sussex doesn’t have to ask for his help because he is so eager.
The new father still has his sense of humor, but now the 2-month-old is his most important audience member. “Nothing makes Harry happier than seeing Archie smile. He’ll spend hours on end making his son laugh,” the insider added.
It’s not surprising that Harry is such an involved father. When Archie was first introduced to the world at a brief photocall, Harry was the one holding him. Royal birth photo calls typically show the mother holding the newborn, but Meghan and Harry wanted to make it clear that they’re a modern couple. Most royal experts predicted that he’d be very involved in Archie’s life.
“Harry will be an incredible father,” U.K. journalist Emma Forbes told People just after Archie was born. “He’ll be one of those fathers that gets the balance right between being hands-on and taking adventures. I could so see him traveling with a son at his side.”
In the spring ITV documentary “Secrets of the Royal Babies: Meghan and Harry,” royal biographer Duncan Larcombe said Princess Diana inspires both Prince Harry and Prince William’s parenting styles.
“Diana made sure William and Harry lived as normal a life as possible and as parents William and Harry will always be influenced by their mother. Her desire to give them a taste of normality runs through the veins of the princes,” he said, according to the Sun.
