A military veteran has slammed Prince Harry over his statement about the Commonwealth’s history.

Former Colour Sergeant Trevor Coult, an ex-Royal Irish Regiment soldier of Woodbridge in Suffolk, was not pleased with Prince Harry’s statement about the Commonwealth’s past. The veteran fired back at the royal who once served in the military.

“He’s turned into a complete idiot,” Coult told Mirror.

“His comments are disgusting and I for one am pleased he has left the UK. A lot of soldiers in the British Army are from the Commonwealth too. They fought alongside Harry and he should remember that. He’s having a dig at the Royal Family – his own family.”

Coult also mocked Prince William’s younger brother for wanting to be alone but constantly doing Zoom calls. According to Coult, the Duke of Sussex couldn’t have it both ways and so he dubbed him an “attention seeker.

“Every time he speaks these days he loses support massively. We respect Harry for his service, for what he did in the past and setting up the Invictus Games for disabled veterans but all of that is being undone now,” Coult continued.

“Every time he speaks and insults the Queen, the Royal Family or has a go at the Commonwealth, all that support from all the years is slowly vanishing. It’s sad because he did good work.”

Coult has been campaigning to stop the number of veterans killing themselves due to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). His PTSD campaign was actually supported by Prince Harry.

Coult’s criticism towards the duke sprang from the former's statement during a Zoom call when he discussed “justice and equal rights.” At the time, Prince Harry said that the Commonwealth's past “must be acknowledged” even if it is “uncomfortable.” He added that the Commonwealth should follow others who have “acknowledged the past” and are trying to correct their mistakes.

Veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards also disapproved of Prince Harry’s statement. He even found the duke’s statement insulting to the Queen.

“Prince Harry is entitled to his views. But in criticising the Commonwealth – the organisation closest to his grandmother’s heart – he has simply lost the plot,” Edwards explained.

“To criticise the one thing the Queen cherishes above all things, which is preserving the Commonwealth, is an insult to her — no matter what the palace may say officially. Any country can look back and find faults, but we learn from history and move on.”
