Prince Harry joked about having a "date night" with 1,500 people at the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award Gala Tuesday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went to accept their Ripple of Hope Award for their work in racial justice, mental health and other social-impact actions through their foundation, Archewell. When Prince Harry took the stage, he said he thought he was on a rare night out with his wife, which they don't get to do frequently since welcoming their two kids Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.
"I actually thought we were just going on a date night, so I find it quite weird that we're sharing the room with 1,500 people," Prince Harry joked on stage, People reported.
"We don't get out much 'cause our kids are so small and young, so this is completely unexpected. It's nice to share date night with all of you — thank you for coming!"
Page Six also reported about the royal couple's "date night," and several sources at the gala spoke with the outlet about the couple. One said Prince Harry looked so in love with his wife.
He was photographed holding an umbrella for her when they arrived at the event. He also held her hand while they walked the red carpet.
"Harry looked so in love, and just seems to worship Meghan. He couldn't stop staring at her all night. She also couldn't stop smiling," the tipster told Page Six.
Meanwhile, a showbiz insider at the gala said Markle hasn't changed when it comes to red-carpet events. She reportedly knows how to work with photographers.
"Meghan hasn't changed ... She still knows how to work the red carpet, and she made sure to look back at all the photographers. Just like she did during her 'Suits' days," the source said.
Markle looked stunning in her white off-the-shoulder Louis Vuitton dress, reminiscent of the bateau-style wedding dress she wore at the 2018 royal wedding by Givenchy designer Clare Waight Keller. She also wore Princess Diana's aquamarine ring, which the latter commissioned in 1996 as a replacement for her engagement ring following her divorce from King Charles.
She styled her hair in a swept low bun, accessorized with dangling earrings and a matching clutch and completed her look with a pair of black pumps. Prince Harry looked dapper in his navy blue suit.
