Prince Harry has decided to take legal action against Mail on Sunday over a false report it published weeks ago.
The Duke of Sussex is coming after the same tabloid that his wife Meghan Markle is suing for breach of privacy. Prince Harry launched a separate legal action against Mail on Sunday by filing a libel case for a false report it published about him and the Royal Marines, The Guardian reported.
The documents were lodged with the high court by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's legal team, Schillings, on Nov. 27. Further details about the case are expected to be made public in the coming weeks.
Although the details about Prince Harry's legal action were scarce, the outlet noted that it was related to a story the tabloid published in October alleging that Prince Harry failed to maintain contact with the Royal Marines after he stepped down from his royal duties.
Prior to taking legal action, Prince Harry's lawyers issued a legal warning to the newspaper because of its report. The duke was reportedly upset about the insinuation that he abandoned the Armed Forces when he served there for two decades.
"He might have been made to give up his titles, but he has not given up on the military, far from it," one of Prince Harry's pals said at the time.
"To say he has not been in touch with the Marines is not the case. He had many conversations with former colleagues during the lockdown and is in regular contact with a lot of military personnel on a private and personal basis," the duke's friend added.
Markle sued Mail on Sunday for publishing parts of her letter addressed to her dad Thomas Markle Sr. However, the duchess had asked to move the trial and it was granted. The scheduled trial was delayed by at least nine months, prompting rumors that Markle could be pregnant.
The duchess revealed recently that she had a miscarriage in July. Markle shared the heartbreaking experience in November to encourage compassion and further conversations about the issue that some people consider taboo.
