Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marked the Duke of Sussex's 36th birthday in a special way by giving a gift to an important cause.

Fans had set up an online campaign this year to raise funds for Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) in honor of Prince Harry and Markle's birthdays. When the campaign ended on Prince Harry's birthday on Tuesday, Sept. 15, the Sussexes decided to match the funds it raised, $129,000, with a personal donation. The organization aims to eradicate poverty in Africa through girls' education and empowerment.

CAMFED confirmed on Twitter that the couple donated a further $130,000 to the organization.

“No better way to celebrate what really matters. Thank you to everyone who donated, Harry and Meghan,” the Sussexes said.

This is not the first time Prince Harry and Markle have been involved with CAMFED.

Prince Harry paid the organization a visit during his 2018 royal tour of Zambia. Meanwhile, the former “Suits” actress joined a panel discussion for the International Women’s Day last year that was also graced by CAMFED executive director Angie Murimirwa.

As for how their family celebrated the occasion, a source told People that Prince Harry had “some birthday celebrations quietly with the family” at their newly bought estate in Santa Barbara, California.

Prince Harry may also celebrate virtually with his royal family members across the pond and catch up with his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William over the phone or video chat.

The royal family did not forget to send Prince Harry their birthday greetings via social media. Prince William and wife Kate Middleton shared a hilarious throwback photo of them with the Duke of Sussex racing against each other on the tracks.

“Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Harry today!” the caption of the Instagram photo read.

On the official Clarence House Instagram page, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles shared photos of Prince Harry. One image showed Prince Harry with a big smile, while the second featured the Prince of Wales and his son grinning at each other.

Meanwhile, it has not been revealed what Markle gave her husband this year as a present, but the Duchess of Sussex is known to go out of her way to make Prince Harry’s birthday special. Last year, she recreated their 2016 African visit in their backyard.

“It's a place that means so much to them — and to Harry in particular — so Meghan wanted to bring that happy place to him on his day so she set up a tent, got sleeping bags, cooked dinner and recreated Botswana where they fell in love,” a source told People at the time.
