Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Make Generous Donation To Family Of Deceased 9-Year-Old
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have donated a generous amount to entrepreneur Kelly McKee Zafjen after the news of her nine-year-old son's death circulated online. Kelly took to Instagram to share the devastating news with her followers, inspiring a friend to set up a GoFundMe page for her grieving family.
Sharing a photo of her late son, George Zafjen riding piggyback on his twin sister, Kelly wrote, “My sweet baby boy. My world is shattered into a million pieces. I have little ability to breathe. Walk. Function. Sit. Stand. You were the light of my life. Your smile made the room so bright and your heart was the most perfect and sweetest.
“You left this earth and left behind so many people who loved you. I don’t know how I’m able to go on. How I can function. How I can be the light and have joy ever again but I’m going to try. Try hard for your beautiful twin sister,” she continued.
Shortly after George’s death, Kelly’s family friend, Kate Jefferson, created a GoFundMe page on her behalf, saying in the description box that she had set up the page to help raise funds for the Zajfen Family as they grieve the loss of George.
“He was the happiest, kindest boy that walked the earth. George’s heart was compassionate, his smile contagious, and his love for his twin sister and parents was palpable. This unexpected loss is beyond devastating and the Zajfen Family will need time to even begin to heal,” she wrote.
In response to the initiative, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex donated $US 5,000 under the names of their children, Archie and Lillibet. It remains unclear how the Sussexes are connected to the Zafjens, but it is thought that Meghan may have been friends with Kelly, who is the co-founder of Alliance of Moms, a community that provides support to pregnant and parenting teens in Los Angeles.
Aside from Prince Harry and Meghan, Meghan’s ex-husband Trevor Engelson and his wife Tracey Kurland also donated to the cause, suggesting that the Duchess and Engelson may have been acquainted with the Zajfens during their marriage.
