Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ‘Megxit’ Strategy Has Too Many ‘Issues,’ ‘Hasn’t Worked’
They may feel happy with their decision to start a new life sans royal titles and duties in Canada, but royal experts are warning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that their “Megxit” strategy is something that won’t serve them well in the long run.
In an appearance on Radio 4’s “Today,” commentator Robert Hardman revealed that while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have thought they have successfully left royal life behind but could still enjoy some perks, learning this week that when their separation is official on March 31, they can no longer use the “Sussex Royal” branding on their future endeavors was a signal that while they gave up their HRH titles and duties, their plan isn’t working, because the door is still open for them to go back to the life they left behind.
“It’s very sad, I think everyone’s sad it’s come to this,” he said. “I don’t think this transition was fully thought through from the start. It was sort of sprung on the world and it hasn’t quite worked. But they’re clearly a loss because they’re a hugely popular couple.”
“We all remember May 2018 when you had almost a billion people around the world watching this fantastic moment,” he added. “You can’t but regret what’s happened. I think the Queen is absolutely determined to make sure that they have every way possible from coming back from this.”
In order to make it clear that they can always come back to the family, the Queen will still reportedly call upon them to attend some events, and that they will still always be a part of the family. As such, the idea is that they would be back within the family fold in a few years.
The new comments come on the heels of the couple learning they had to stop using the Sussex Royal name on their future endeavors, after using the name on their website and their popular Instagram account. While they agreed to the terms, Markle reportedly spoke to her inner circle and admitted that while she didn’t think there should have been an issue to begin with, she also doesn’t feel the success she and Prince Harry have is due to their name and even commented herself that no matter what, her husband and her son, Archie, would always have royal blood which would keep them as royalty—with or without titles.
“Meghan has told her inner circle that their success is inevitable with or without their current brand name,” a source said. “She said regardless of the name, Harry and Archie have royal blood and no one can take that away and that as a family, they will always be considered royalty.”
