KEY POINTS

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should avoid accepting tacky gigs
  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were wrong to work with JP Morgan
  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were paid millions for their JP Morgan appearance

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just made their first public appearance since leaving the royal family last month. Earlier this week, the royal couple attended a JP Morgan event in Miami, Florida.

According to sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were paid a hefty sum of money for their short appearance. Prince Harry was the only one who spoke about his mental health struggles during the engagement.

However, PR guru Mark Borkowski warned the royal couple from accepting tacky gigs just because they need to make money and become financially independent from the royal family.

“This is how difficult it is going to be. They’ve got to make a lot of money and they are going to slip up on the way. The worry is how many of these types of gigs are there going to be?” he told Daily Mail.

Borkowski acknowledged the fact that having Prince Harry and Markle at the JP Morgan event was a win for the company especially since they have the budget to afford the royal couple. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex need to avoid being perceived as tacky.

Meanwhile, other experts also discussed Prince Harry and Markle’s recent engagement and described it as a PR disaster. Panelist Bobby Friction said that royal fans would’ve had a different reaction if it was Prince Charles who attended the JP Morgan event.

“I think the way the great British public has reacted to this story wouldn’t be the same because they would have said, ‘well he’s working for the royal family, he’s obviously a learned man.’ Prince Charles has had a lot of experience, ‘let him do that,’” he said (via Express).

Dawn Neesom said that Prince Charles would also be criticized for attending the engagement since he will most likely take a private jet to Miami. She also said that she understands why the royal couple took the job because they need to make their own money.

Friction agreed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex need to make their money, but he also said that JP Morgan is the wrong company to team up with.
