Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will most likely not choose Prince William and Kate Middleton to be their baby’s godparents.

Even though royal fans have been aware of this due to the fact that Prince Harry has not been named godfather to the royal couple’s children, there are still other reasons why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t choose the Cambridge family for the role.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, told Express that Prince Harry and Markle’s baby’s godparents would reflect both of its British and American roots. Non-royals would also be given the important role just like what Prince William and Middleton did for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

“We know that William and Kate have largely avoided members of the royal family when choosing godparents for George, Charlotte, and Louis. We don’t know what line Harry and Meghan will take but the likelihood is that they will choose godparents who reflect both his or her British and American roots and are non-royal,” he said.

As of late, Zara Tindall is the only member of the royal family who has also been named as a godparent to Prince William and Middleton’s children. Tindall, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, is not considered a working royal. She is also the cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry.

Meanwhile, Markle is scheduled to give birth in the spring. During her trip to Birkenhead, the former “Suits” lead star told royal fans that she is expected to give birth around the end of April or beginning of May.

It is highly likely for Markle and Prince Harry’s baby to be christened two to three months after its birth. The same was done by Prince William and Middleton after they welcomed Prince George in 2013, Princess Charlotte in 2015, and Prince Louis in 2018.
