  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have many renovation ideas for their new home in Montecito
  • The couple is thinking of giving Archie a special play area
  • One of the guesthouses may be renovated for Markle's mom, Doria Ragland

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be making a few changes in their newly bought $14.65 million Montecito property to make it feel more like home.

A source told Us Weekly that the royal couple’s renovation plans for their new home include updating some of the rooms in the 18,000-square-foot California estate to suit their tastes. The Duchess of Sussex is apparently thinking of revamping their son Archie’s room, the kitchen, gym and main living area.

In preparation for Archie's future playdates, Markle and Prince Harry also plan to create a special nook for their only child next to their lavish estate's rose garden and swimming pool, according to the source.

“The outdoor play area will be decked out with swings and slides, a climbing frame and a tea area for Archie and his new little pals,” the insider added. “Meghan’s counting the days until Archie can start interacting with children his own age.”

As for Prince Harry, he plans to have a custom bar made as their new home already came with a wine cellar. His wife, meanwhile, has been toying with the idea of a “tasteful drinking area” near their pool where they can sit down and hang out with their friends whenever they come over.

One of the guesthouses on the property could be renovated to accommodate Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, the same insider earlier told Us Weekly. Archie’s grandmother, and sometimes babysitter, “plans to split her time between L.A. and Montecito.”

Markle and Prince Harry bought the sprawling Montecito property in June and moved to their new home in July after months of renting Tyler Perry's mansion.

While rumors claimed they received financial help from Prince Charles for the purchase, a Page Six source earlier said the Montecito mansion is “truly theirs.”

“They can’t wait to make it a home,” the insider said of Prince Harry and his wife.

After announcing their resignation from their senior roles in the royal family in January, Prince Harry, Markle and Archie flew to Vancouver Island, Canada, where they stayed for weeks before heading to Los Angeles, California, in March.

Upon arrival, the family stayed at Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion, where they were hounded by paparazzi eager to get a glimpse of their new life.
