KEY POINTS
- Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's move to the U.S. is not the happy ending they craved for
- The Duke of Sussex lost important matters to him after leaving the royal family
- Prince Harry has already reconnected with Prince William
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to move to the United States was reportedly not the happy ending they craved for.
In January, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family. Shortly after their bombshell announcement, they flew and stayed in Canada.
In March, they returned to the U.K. to carry out their final engagement. After that, they moved to the U.S.
According to reports, Prince Harry and Markle are living in a secluded place. They still work with their charities. However, according to royal correspondent Daniela Elser, their move to LA was not the happy ending they craved for. Also, Prince Harry has lost several important things after turning his back from the royal family.
First, Prince Harry lost his military roles including his title as the captain general of the Royal Marines. Prince Harry has always been identified as a prince and later a soldier.
At present, he is technically still a prince, but he could no longer style himself as an HRH nor does he represent the Queen officially.
“In a matter of only months, Harry has lost the two key pillars of his identity and that must surely come at a high personal cost,” Elser wrote.
There were also sources who claimed that Prince Harry is feeling somewhat “rudderless and lost” after moving away from the U.K.
“He has a lot of friends in the military community in the UK and of course he misses them. This is a very strange time for us all, but I think Harry is missing having a structure to his life right now,” a source told Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl.
“He doesn’t have friends in LA like Meghan and he doesn’t have a job. So at the moment he’s a bit rudderless, but it won’t always be like this, and he knows that.”
Meanwhile, Nicholl added that Prince Harry was feeling homesick, but good thing that he has already reconnected with his big brother, Prince William. The royal biographer said that the two are already on speaking terms.
