Prince Harry Warned About Shutting Press: Buckingham Palace ‘Cannot Issue Lies’
Prince Harry doesn’t like the press and was warned about shutting the media.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe wasn’t pleased about the delayed announcement of Meghan Markle’s labor. He warned that there is danger in shutting the press time and time again and this could have implications to Prince Harry and Markle.
“We saw it in the wedding in comparison to William and Kate, we have seen it again with this royal birth. And then there was the email announcing that she had gone into labour and it turned out seven hours earlier the baby had been born,” Larcombe told Yahoo’s “The Royal Box.”
“The Palace cannot issue lies, they cannot do that,” he added.
A PR expert asked Larcombe if the announcement was lies or simply a mistake made by the Buckingham Palace’s press. Larcombe stressed that the people in the palace are civil servants and it’s either they are lying or are incompetent and either way they wouldn’t want that on their CV.
Larcombe understands that Prince Harry wanted to do things differently from Prince William and he is entitled to do it. However, at the first start of his new media team, they have already put a lot of noses out of joint.
They issued a statement to one broadcaster in the UK and snubbed all of the others, but they blamed it on an email error. It is believed that Markle has given birth to baby Archie at the Portland Hospital in London and returned to her home in Windsor with husband Prince Harry and newborn son on Monday.
Last week, Dickie Arbiter also warned Buckingham Palace after “categorically denying” baby Sussex’s arrival. Days before Prince Harry’s announcement that they welcomed a boy, there were rumors that Markle had already gave birth.
Many were convinced after seeing a number of major clues suggesting that the latest addition to the royal family had already arrived. However, the palace denied it.
Arbiter felt that the palace came out quite strongly after denying the claims and said that they would end up with egg on their faces if the public finds out that the baby had already arrived and they denied it. If that happens, Buckingham Palace would lose its credibility.
