Prince Harry, William's Broken Relationship Would Only Be Mended By An 'Awful Tragedy,’ Expert Claims
KEY POINTS
- Prince Harry and Prince William's broken relationship is beyond repair
- The two dukes will not reconcile while Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are around
- Royal fans want Prince William and Prince Harry to reconcile
Prince Harry and Prince William have been rumored to be feuding, and a royal expert thinks it would be difficult for the royal siblings to reconcile while their wives Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are around.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, spoke in Daily Mirror's "Pod Save the Queen" podcast and discussed Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship. She believes their relationship is beyond repair unless an "awful tragedy" happens that will force them to reunite.
"I rather doubt that they will ever get back to how they used to be. I really don't think so. I think that's probably a broken relationship," Seward said of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' sons.
"I think perhaps if something happened to Catherine or Meghan, the boys would be together again. But as long as their ladies are there and their families are there," she continued.
"If there was an awful tragedy it would bring them together, but otherwise I don't think that relationship will be mended."
Seward made it clear that her statements are her personal point of view and she could be wrong.
Meanwhile, royal biographer Robert Lacey believes "everyone wants some kind of reconciliation" between the royal siblings. For Lacey, Prince William's biggest test when he takes over the throne would be whether he should make Prince Harry part of the institution again or not.
"The challenge for William is whether while being true to his principles he can also modernise the institution by making his brother part of it. That’s what everyone wants, some kind of reconciliation," Lacey said.
However, the "Battle of Brothers" author went on to say that there is "no chance" for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ever returning to being working royals full time or "leaving their American base.”
The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex have a complicated relationship since the latter decided to marry Meghan Markle. Prince William allegedly advised his younger brother to slow down with his romance with the former "Suits" star, but the advice didn't sit well with Prince Harry.
The younger royal seemingly confirmed their rumored rift during ITV's documentary "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey" when he said that they’re "certainly on different paths." But Markle's husband added, "I’ll always be there for him, as I know he’ll always be there for me."
Prince Harry and Markle might spend their Christmas holidays in the U.K., according to an insider. But another source claimed Prince Harry has no plans to return to the U.K. anytime soon.
