Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not going back to the U.K. this holiday season, and the royal family is sad because they won't be seeing Archie, according to a source.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are unlikely to spend Christmas with the royals and the royal family is disappointed. Since Prince Harry and Markle will not be flying to Britain, they won't be seeing baby Archie on Christmas.

It is "fully anticipated that [the couple] will be at home in California and not be in the U.K. for Christmas," a source told Entertainment Tonight. The tipster added that the members of the Firm were "disappointed" because they won't be seeing Archie during the holidays.

However, the insider noted that the Sussexes "have not finalized any specific plans yet for the holiday period." So, it might still change.

"Things can obviously change, if there's a concern about family health, but they are not hopping over the pond anytime imminently," the source said.

The royals are also adhering to "social isolation guidelines" amid the coronavirus pandemic, per the insider.

Meanwhile, another source told ET earlier that the pandemic brought the Sussexes closer to Prince Harry's family. The source said that the reported drama between the Sussexes and the members of the royal family was exaggerated.

Moreover, another insider claimed that Prince Harry and Markle were planning to return to the U.K. for Christmas. They were allegedly eager to reunite with the royal family for Archie to meet his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and great-grandfather, Prince Philip. The family remained in touch using modern technology amid the pandemic.

"They have so much fun over Zoom, and they have bonded through Zoom calls. Harry is so close with his grandmother, and he is excited to get Archie back [to London] so that they can see her," the insider said.
