Prince Harry's Rare Childhood Photos With Mom Princess Diana Resurface
Prince Harry didn't have the chance to grow up with his mom, Princess Diana, but he still has a lot of of great memories of her.
Reader's Digest shared several photos of the Duke of Sussex with the late Princess of Wales. The snaps were taken around the time of Prince Harry's public debut.
In one photo, Princess Diana can be seen wearing a red dress and staring lovingly at the newborn in her arms wrapped in a white cloth. Another snap featured Princess Diana carrying and looking at her son, who had on hat mittens.
In another shot, Princess Diana can be seen carrying a toddler in her arms. Prince Harry is sucking his thumb, while Prince Charles walks behind them. On Dec. 31, 1987, Princess Diana was photographed walking beside a pony with Prince Harry on it. Now, the Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge are accomplished polo players.
In another snap, Princess Diana is once again carrying Prince Harry in her arms while the latter sticks out his tongue as they stand on the balcony. Prince William is also with them in the photo. Prince Harry was also seen sticking his tongue out while inside a car, and Princess Diana pulled him into her lap as she smiled at him.
Princess Diana and Prince Harry also enjoyed several rides together. They were photographed in a horse-drawn sleigh during a ski holiday in Austria in March 1994. They were also photographed enjoying a log flume ride at Thorne Park in Surrey.
Prince Harry was only 12 years old when Princess Diana got into a tragic accident that led to her death. He blamed the paparazzi chasing his mom for the mishap.
"I think one of the hardest things to come to terms with is the fact that the people that chased her into the tunnel were the same people that were taking photographs of her while she was still dying on the back seat of the car," Prince Harry told BBC in 2017 during Princess Diana's 20th death anniversary.
"She had quite a severe head injury but she was very much still alive on the back seat. And those people that caused the accident, instead of helping, they were taking photographs on the back seat, and then those photographs made their way back to news desks," he added.
However, Princess Diana's bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, believes otherwise. According to him, the accident should not be blamed on the press.
"Yes, some were pursuing Diana, but there weren't, in my view, ultimately the cause of that death," Wharfe said.
