Prince Philip Arrives In Windsor Castle After Sarah Ferguson Leaves Before Wedding
Prince Philip arrived in Windsor Castle on Thursday night just one day before Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding.
Katie Mansfield, a journalist for Express, revealed that Prince Philip went to Windsor Castle to receive Brigadier Andrew Freeman, Head of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (R.A.E.M.E).
The Duke of Edinburgh’s meeting came as Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew went to Windsor Castle for the final practice ahead of their daughter’s nuptials. However, Ferguson and her ex-husband left the private estate before Prince Philip.
It is believed that Prince Philip will decide at the last minute if he will attend his granddaughter’s wedding on Friday, Oct. 12. There are also some speculations suggesting that he and Ferguson have buried the hatchet for the sake of Princess Eugenie.
“The Duke of Edinburgh may not go to the wedding, just as he and Queen Elizabeth II did not attend Prince Louis’ christening in July. There’s not a three-line whip on these family occasions. Not unreasonably, when you consider his age, the Duke of Edinburgh will decide on the morning of the wedding if he’s going to be there,” a source told The Telegraph.
Earlier this month, Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, told Express that Prince Philip and Ferguson may hide their strained relationship at the royal event. However, attending the gathering doesn’t mean that they are already in good terms.
“Sarah remains estranged from the Duke of Edinburgh although this will obviously not show on Eugenie’s big day,” he said.
Fitzwilliams added that Ferguson has already been accepted back into the royal fold by the Queen.
“The Queen has a tenderness for her especially as she is so fond of her granddaughters, but the Duchess of York remains estranged from the Duke of Edinburgh,” he said.
Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank’s wedding will commence at 11 a.m.
