Prince Philip has reached a new and historic milestone.

The Duke of Edinburgh has written his name into the history books by breaking a near 40-year record for being the oldest ever male member of the royal family. The oldest is Princess Alice who lived until she was 102 years old while Queen Mother was 101, Express reported.

“He was becoming a national treasure, almost in the tradition of the legendary television figure Alf Garnett,” Sarah Bradford said in her new book “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Our Times.”

“His marriage to the Queen had been an outstanding success,” she added.

The 97-year-old began his royal duties in 1952 after Queen Elizabeth II took over the throne. Six years ago he became the oldest male member of the royal family.

Prince Philip’s landmark achievement came days after his car crash victim charged him with allegedly hiding information about two previous road offenses. Emma Fairweather reportedly charged the duke with two counts of failing to name a driver when asked.

Journalists Rebecca Hyde and Angela Mollard reacted to the said issue. The latter called it “baffling” while the former said that “he never learns.”

Fairweather wanted Prince Philip to be prosecuted if proven that he violated the law for careless driving. She also pointed out Prince Philip’s love for independence.

She believed that the duke fears he would lose his independence if he stops driving. She then questioned her independence as she could no longer take care of herself. She needed the help of her teenage son to wash and dress up after the accident.

Prince Philip already gave up his license after the horror car crash. However, just recently he was spotted behind the wheel in Windsor Great Park without a seatbelt.

An onlooker told the Sun that she was very surprised to see Prince Philip driving his Land Rover by the river much more that he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. The insider said that it was “ridiculous” and added that Prince Philip seemed not to care that what he did was against the law.

A few days ago, Prince Philip was spotted riding a horse-drawn carriage near Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. Some are concerned about the duke and Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite hobby, but the two aren’t showing any signs that they would stop riding horses anytime soon.
