  • Prince William and Prince Harry avoided each other at this week's summit
  • Prince William and Kate Middleton will take on more responsibilities

Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly avoided each other at an event this week.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, royal author Katie Nicholl said that the Duke of Sussex attended the UK-Africa Investment Summit first, while Prince William joined the evening gathering for the same event.

Instead of attending the summit together, Prince Harry and Prince William arrived hours apart from each other. According to Nicholl, this could be because the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are still reeling from the severe changes that they now have to face because of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit.

“Harry was at the summit; William was there at night but there was no crossing over. I think the severity of what’s happened has had a huge impact on his brother, on his sister-in-law. Both of them are still reeling from the news, coming to terms with the reality of the situation,” she said.

Following the controversial Megxit, Prince William and Middleton’s workload has increased. They are expected to attend more royal engagements while also preparing for their future roles as the king and queen of Britain.

While speaking with Express, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams revealed that there are at least 230 royal patronages without a patron now that Prince Harry, Markle, and Prince Andrew have quit. As such, Prince William and Middleton would most likely take on a few more.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge could receive the help and support of Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Camilla Parker Bowles.

However, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie won’t be given more responsibilities because they are not considered as working royals, to begin with.

Additionally, Prince Charles has always wanted a slimmed-down monarchy, which is already happening with the exit of three senior royals. There is, therefore, no reason for the heir to the throne to add Sarah Ferguson’s daughters to the mix.
