Prince William reportedly laughed and mocked a royal expert during one of their previous encounters.

Nick Ede admitted to breaking royal protocol at an event while trying to help a colleague who did not speak English very well so that he could communicate with the Duke of Cambridge.

While speaking on Yahoo’s “The Royal Box,” the public relations guru said that he once overstepped the mark when he addressed Prince William even before the royal was officially introduced to him. Prince William reportedly smiled at Ede and made a joke about the embarrassing moment to make light of the situation.

“I actually was the one to show some bad etiquette to Prince William. You feel very nervous, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been in different situations, you’re always still nervous,” he said.

Ede said that Prince William was walking up to him and his friend at that time who was feeling a bit tongue-tied so he offered to translate for him.

“So basically, I started before I had been introduced to basically translate what she was saying and giving it more context. And I suddenly thought, ‘Oh my god, I just totally overstepped my mark,’” he recounted.

In related news, Prince William also made headlines this week after it was revealed that he and his wife have secret touches that were approved by Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal author Marcia Moody said in her book “Kate: A Biography” that Her Majesty allowed Prince William to loosen up the formal rules ahead of his wedding to Kate Middleton.

At that time, Prince William was presented with a list of hundreds of people who he should invite to his big day and learned that personal guests were not allowed.

Prince William immediately turned to his grandmother for advice, and the monarch told his grandson that he could tear up the list and invite his friends.
