  • Royal photographer Arthur Edwards detailed Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship before they became estranged
  • The brothers were reportedly "so close" and did everything together
  • Edwards said King Charles III never stopped loving Prince Harry despite his son's royal exit

Before their feud, Prince Harry had pledged to support his older brother and the heir to the British throne Prince William, according to a royal photographer.

Following the release of the Netflix documentary series "Harry & Meghan," Arthur Edwards opened up to Fox News Digital about what he observed of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's time as working members of the British royal family, as well as Prince Harry and his older brother's relationship before they became estranged.

Edwards has been serving as the royal photographer for The Sun since 1975. He was part of more than 200 royal tours in 120 countries and covered Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral.

The photographer, who recently released his photobook "Behind the Crown: My Life Photographing the Royal Family," shared that he "went everywhere" with Prince Harry and Markle, whom he compared to "rock stars."

"They went everywhere and people loved them," Edwards told the outlet of the couple. "But then towards the end, when she became pregnant [with her firstborn], it changed. It was less fun. And then the last [royal] tour, it was just miserable. [Harry] completely changed. He cut himself off from the media. ... One day he just stopped talking to us. He just cut us all dead."

Edwards said that Markle "seemed to adapt quickly" to royal life so he found it "difficult to understand why things would be so upsetting" that the Sussexes would choose to quit royal duties in 2020.

Edwards noted that Prince Harry and Prince William were "so close" growing up and did everything together even into adulthood. In fact, the Duke of Sussex previously said that his main role in life was to support his brother as the future king.

"They were absolutely inseparable. ... I remember Harry making a speech when he was about 25, 26, saying his main role in life was to support William because he knew that William was going to be the king one day. He would need Harry to support him," the photographer told the outlet. "I remember watching them play football together, ride horses together – they were always together."

However, Edwards said that there's now a "bitterness" between Prince Harry and Prince William that wasn't there before.

After everything that happened, the photographer said he believes there is currently no room for reconciliation between the royal siblings.

Despite their royal exit, Edwards said he believes King Charles never stopped loving Prince Harry. He also said he thinks the monarch would welcome his younger son back into the royal fold anytime.

Royal authors have claimed that Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship began to break down after the older royal encouraged his brother to take it slow with Markle.

"Harry was pissed off ... that his brother would ask such a thing," royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claimed in their book "Finding Freedom."

In their docuseries, Prince Harry claimed that Prince William "screamed and shouted" at him after he announced his decision to step back from his role as a working royal in January 2020.

"The saddest part of it was this wedge created between myself and my brother, so that he's now on the institution's side," Harry said in the series of leaving royal life. "Part of that I get, I understand, right, that's his inheritance. So to some extent, it's already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and continuation of this institution."

Following their bombshell Netflix docuseries, Prince Harry is set to release his memoir, "Spare," on Jan. 10.
