Prince William Shocking Confession: Future King Wants To Be ‘In Control’ Of Own Life

Prince William made a shocking revelation about his personal life.

The Duke of Cambridge’s fate is already sealed. He will be the next king after Prince Charles. However, Kate Middleton’s husband confessed in an interview with BBC Radio 4 in 2011 that just like the rest of us, he wanted to be normal and independent, Express reported.

“I really do want to be in control of my own life,” Prince William said. “And if I don’t agree with what someone’s saying or someone’s pushing on me then I won’t do it. I’m always open for people saying that I’m royal, because most of the time I am, but I hate to lose control.”

In another interview five years later, Prince William revealed the same thing. BBC’s Nicholas Witchell asked the Duke of Cambridge about his “work-shy” approach to royal life after he was accused of being a “reluctant royal.” The duke said that he doesn’t completely ignore criticisms, but he also doesn’t take it to heart completely. The royal father of three makes sure that he has enough time for his family while he does his royal duties.

“I’m concentrating very much on my role as a father, and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously,” Prince William said. “I want to bring my children up to be good people, with the idea of service and duty to others being very important. If I can’t give my time to my children too, then I worry about their future.”

Prince William said that when the Queen decides to step away from some of her duties he would be the first to put himself forward to take on greater responsibilities. At the time, Prince William was serving at the East Anglian Air Ambulance service, but he was already aware of his future role saying “you’ve got to develop into the duty role.”

In related news, Prince Harry who has been dubbed as a “reluctant royal” announced last month that he and his wife Meghan Markle would be stepping down as senior members of the royal family. The couple immediately flew to Canada after their announcement.

Prince Harry and Markle were seen for the first time after their royal exit on the tarmac after taking a flight to Canada from the U.S. The Sussexes were reportedly trying to carve out new business ventures.
