Prince William ‘Steps Up In Statesman Role’ Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, Royal Expert Says

Prince William has stepped up amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Many noticed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are stepping up amid the COVID-19 pandemic. While the royals are quarantining at home, Prince William has already given several statements about the coronavirus.

This isn’t surprising at all. In fact, Prince William was expected to lead the monarchy during the crisis.

Queen Elizabeth II, 93, and Prince Charles, 71, are both vulnerable to the virus. In fact, a few weeks back, the heir apparent tested positive for coronavirus. Fortunately, the Prince of Wales is already doing fine. For this reason, Prince William and his wife, Middleton, are expected to step up and many noticed their efforts thus far.

“Obviously William and Kate aren’t in the vulnerable sector, therefore they are perhaps the best placed of the Royal Family to be able to help at the moment,” Katie Nicholl explained.

“We’re seeing William step up in that statesman role,” she continued. “It strikes me as interesting that the first member of the Royal Family to address the nation has been William.”

Nicholl added that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would want to continue to work for as long as they can to be the pillars of support for the wider community. She said that the future king and queen would be doing their jobs via their social media handle and by sharing video messages.

“It’s a time of crisis for the nation and this is when we turn to the monarch and the Royal Family for comfort and support and reassurance,” Nicholl added.

“They’ve wanted to send off that message for as long as possible that it’s business as usual… and the Queen has really done that for as long as she can.”

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Prince William and Middleton have already taken over the throne and have started ruling as king and queen. Phil Dampier did not dismiss it and said that the Cambridges would play an important role amid the crisis.

“Obviously Kate and William have a very important role to play,” the royal expert said of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. “They are going to be the only visible royals – the face of the royal family.”
