Prince William Wanted This Job As A Kid To Protect Princess Diana
Prince William wanted to become a policeman when he was a young boy so he could protect his mom, Princess Diana.
Andrew Morton, a royal biographer, wrote in “Diana: Her True Story,” that Prince William and Prince Harry were brought up aware of their destiny.
“On one occasion the boys were discussing their futures with Diana. ‘When I grow up I want to be a policeman and look after you Mommy,’ said William. Quick as a flash, Harry replied, with a note of triumph in his voice, ‘Oh no you can’t, you’ve got to be king,’” Morton revealed (via The Sun).
Prince William’s grandmother, Carolyn Bartholomew, was also featured in Morton’s book. She shared a sweet story regarding Prince William and said that he is as kind-hearted as the Princess of Wales.
“He would give you his last Rolo sweet. In fact, he did on one occasion. He was longing for this sweet, he only had one left, and he gave it to me,” she said.
And when he was still young, Prince William collected all of his pennies and gave it to his grandmother.
Meanwhile, Prince William and Prince Harry had to bid goodbye to their mom at such a young age. Princess Diana passed away on Aug. 31, 1997, following a fatal car crash in Paris. Following their mom’s death, Prince William reportedly told a young boy at a charity event that he was angry about his mom’s demise.
“Initially, there is a sense of profound shock and disbelief that this could ever happen to you. Real grief often does not hit home until much later. For many, it is a grief never entirely lost. Life is altered as you know it, and not a day goes past without you thinking about the one you have lost. I know that over time it is possible to learn to live with what has happened and, with the passing of years, to retain or rediscover cherished memories,” Prince William once said (via Pop Sugar).
