Princes William, Charles Can't Fly Together, Have To Ask Queen's Permission First

Prince William and Prince Charles still need the Queen's permission to fly together.

The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge are all grown-ups. However, they still need to ask Queen Elizabeth II's approval before they can take the same flight together.

According to Harriet Mallinson, a journalist for Express, the father and son can't board the same flight as there's an unwritten royal protocol that forbids the members of the Firm to fly in a plane together at the same time. This is to avoid the lineage of the royal from being affected in case of a crash.

Prince Charles is the next heir to the throne while Prince William is the second-in-line. Thus to ensure that the monarch will still have a ruler, the duo should not travel together.

The same rule applies to Prince William and his son, Prince George. However, Prince William and Kate Middleton have broken this protocol when they took the 5-year-old royal with them on a trip abroad.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took Prince George with them when they traveled to Canada and enjoyed a tour in Australia and New Zealand. According to an insider, Prince William asked his grandmother's approval for it and she agreed.

The travel rule forbidding the heirs to the throne to travel together is not official and "it is something that the Queen has the final say on." Meanwhile, it is believed that Prince William and Middleton will continue to break this with their youngest son, three-month-old Prince Louis.

According to Kara Godfrey, it is likely that Prince William and Middleton will take Prince Louis on one of their trips abroad since they have already done this with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. So, it would not be surprising to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge traveling with their little baby on board the same flight.

In fact, they may have done so already. It was reported that the family flew to Mustique for a vacation with Middleton's parents Carole and Michael. During their outing, Prince William and Middleton were photographed dancing during a wild night out.
