Princess Anne Fury: Charles' Sister Allegedly Lambasted Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Over 'Modern' Royal Approach

Princess Anne is considered as one of the most significant personalities in the British monarchy. Royal followers admire the fact that the sole daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, can almost do everything. Called as Princess Royal, she is known for being a champion equestrian, a doting mother, a Navy admiral, and a survivor of a kidnapping attempt. These are some of the primary reasons why numerous people look up to her.

However, Princess Anne, in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, has encouraged the younger members of the family to not change the tried-and-tested approach when it comes to public service. “Don’t forget the basics. I don’t think this younger generation probably understands what I was doing in the past and it’s often true, isn’t it? You don’t necessarily look at the previous generation and say, ‘Oh, you did that?’ Or, ‘You went there?’” she told the magazine.

“Nowadays, they’re much more looking for, ‘Oh let’s do it a new way.’ And I’m already at the stage, ‘Please do not reinvent that particular wheel. We’ve been there, done that. Some of these things don’t work,” Princess Anne went on.

Woman’s Day Australia, in its upcoming April 27, 2020 issue, claimed that the recent statements of the Princess Royal are, actually, a veiled swipe at Meghan Markle over her approach to royal duties and responsibilities. Prince Charles’ sister has made it clear that she is sticking to her guns and advised the younger generations of royals to not modernize the monarchy too far.

An unnamed source told the entertainment news publication that Princess Anne pointed her comments to the former “Suits” actress and Prince Harry, who are known for doing things on their way. It even claimed that the Sussex couple’s reputation and behavior did not sit well with the Princess Royal.

“Anne was the one who was happy to let them go when they wanted to quit. She was sick of seeing Meghan swanning around like she owned the place, picking and choosing only the most glamorous public appearances while Anne cut every ribbon at every public hospital in the Midlands in the name of the Queen,” the insider said to the media outlet.

“As far as Anne’s concerned, it’s good riddance and I believe she has said as much when the royal family had crisis talks over Megxit – I bet Meghan was shocked,” it went on.

To recall, Meghan and Prince Harry were accused of modernizing the monarchy as they have continuously departed from protocol throughout their time as senior royals. Per Business Insider, royal biographer Katie Nicholl even claimed that the Sussex pair's wedding marked "a turning point for the monarchy" after they broke numerous royal protocols and opted for non-traditional wedding details. They are, also, more vocal than the other members of the royal family.

Both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have yet to comment on these claims.
