Princess Beatrice will only have two guests on her wedding day if coronavirus outbreak continues.
The next royal wedding is not going as planned due to COVID-19. A few days back, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were forced to cancel their wedding reception at Buckingham Palace. However, as the global pandemic persists, the couple might also have to push through with their wedding ceremony sans their friends and families.
According to Express, Princess Beatrice is planning to have 150 guests for her royal wedding on May 29. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Church of England announced that the number of people attending church weddings would be limited to the legal minimum of five only – the priest, the bride and groom, and two witnesses.
Due to this, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are unlikely to attend and be the witness especially that they are already in their 90s. Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed earlier that the government is planning to ask people over 70 years old to stay at home for up to four months, several senior members of the royal family are expected to be affected.
Queen Elizabeth II, 94, Prince Philip, 98, Prince Charles, 71, and Camilla Parker Bowles, 72, might be forced to isolate themselves. Royal expert Phil Dampier was also convinced that the Duke of Edinburgh would skip Princess Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi’s big day if the pandemic continues.
“If the coronavirus reaches Italian proportions in the U.K., I seriously doubt the Duke will run the risk of travelling to London for Beatrice’s wedding,” Phil Dampier told Access. “He has not been coming into contact with many people in recent weeks.”
A spokesperson for the couple just released a statement about their wedding. They are reportedly looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking unnecessary risks, so they are reviewing their arrangements, The Independent reported.
“They are particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people,” the spokesperson said.
“The couple will carefully consider government advice before deciding whether a private marriage might take place amongst a small group of family and friends.”
