Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie Reveal ‘Constant Mockery’ Made Them Cry
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie recently opened up about the constant mockery they have been receiving on social media and shared how one particular instance left them in tears.
During their interview with British Vogue (via Daily Mail), the royal siblings said that it has become challenging to navigate through the criticisms since they are no protocols in place regarding social media use.
“It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol. We are the first: we are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses, and doing all of this in the public eye,” Princess Beatrice said.
“We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there. Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram – but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real,” Princess Eugenie added.
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s daughters have been criticized for their hats and fascinators. Princess Beatrice was also slammed for all of the vacations she has been taking and posting about on her Instagram account.
The siblings revealed an instance wherein the mockery went a bit overboard, and they just broke down into tears.
“There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset. We were just about to step out and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me,” Princess Eugenie revealed.
The siblings previously said that they are each other’s rocks. In fact, Princess Eugenie has also asked Princess Beatrice to be her maid of honor or chief bridesmaid.
“Euge is amazing. She’s a very modern bride,” Princess Beatrice said.
The 28-year-old princess clarified that she didn’t turn into a bridezilla while preparing for her wedding to Jack Brooksbank.
“I’m not stressed at all. It’s nerve-racking because you want it to be perfect, but then you realize that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters,” Princess Eugenie said.
