Princess Diana’s first words to Prince Charles after their divorce was finalized in 1996 was quite heartbreaking

In the book “The Queen and Di: The Untold Story,” royal expert Ingrid Seward shared details from her conversation with the Princess of Wales. Princess Diana told Seward that she asked her ex-husband a question during their first meeting since their split.

“On the day their separation was announced, Charles and Diana met in the first-floor drawing room Diana called the salon of her apartment at Kensington Palace. They sat together on the yellow brocade-cover sofa,” Seward said.

Princess Diana told Seward that she and Prince Charles asked each other why their divorce had to happen. The former couple tied the knot at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981, but they divorced 15 years later.

The Prince and Princess of Wales struggled throughout their marriage. In fact, even before they tied the knot, they both had a feeling that they shouldn’t push through with their wedding.

Prince Charles once told his friends that he didn’t love Princess Diana, but he was confident that he could develop feelings for her eventually. The future king was madly in love with Camilla Parker Bowles, and they even had an affair while he was still married to Princess Diana.

Princess Diana, on the other hand, also described her wedding day to Prince Charles as the worst day of her life. In the documentary “Diana: In Her Own Words,” royal expert Robert Jobson revealed that Princess Diana told her sisters that she’s not sure if she could push through with the wedding.

However, Princess Diana’s older siblings convinced her to push through with her nuptials because her face and Prince Charles’ face have already been printed on different types of memorabilia.

And even before their wedding, Princess Diana was already aware of her husband’s infidelity with Camilla. The mom of two was suspicious of the Duchess of Cornwall since the beginning.
