Princess Diana ‘Fumed’ At Camilla On Wedding Day, Called ‘Sacrificial Lamb’
Princess Diana reportedly fumed at Camilla Parker Bowles during her wedding to Prince Charles. The late Princess of Wales was also dubbed as a sacrificial lamb due to a shocking reason.
In the Netflix documentary “The Royals,” it was revealed that Princess Diana was hopeful that Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair was already over by the time she walks down the aisle. Princess Diana knew that Prince Charles was still in love with Camilla, but she was still shocked when she saw her inside the church on her special day.
Andrew Morton, a royal biographer, said, “When I interviewed Diana for her biography, she told me about the moment she stood at the entrance of St. Paul’s Cathedral. She said she had hope brimming in her heart and as she walked down the aisle, she looked at Camilla Parker Bowles – who she knew as Prince Charles’ mistress. She hoped that the relationship was over, sadly it wasn’t.”
James Sherwood, a royal fashion historian, said that Princess Diana looked like a sacrificial lamb while wearing her David Emanuel dress.
“I remember the fairytale wedding dress designed by Emanuel, I feel like she looked like a sacrificial lamb in a way, all dressed up in this great big wedding cake of a dress,” he said (via Express).
Prince Charles and Princess Diana still went on to get married in 1981, but their relationship ended in a separation in 1992. Four years later, Prince Charles and Princess Diana finalized their divorce. And in 1997, the mom of Prince William and Prince Harry passed away following a fatal car crash in Paris.
Last week, it was revealed that Camilla somewhat encouraged Prince Charles to push through with his marriage to the late Princess of Wales. Author Jessica Jayne said in “The Duchess of Cornwall: Camilla’s Story and Secrets” that Camilla thought Princess Diana was gormless.
“Camilla never saw Diana as a threat and that the late Princess could be someone she could manipulate,” she said (via Express).
