Princess Diana, Meghan Markle’s First Royal Moments Compared: From Wedding To Tour

Princess Diana and Meghan Markle have not met in person, but their lives are quite similar since they are both parts of the royal family.

When the Princess of Wales was still alive, she attended several events as the wife of Prince Charles. After Markle wed Prince Harry last year, she also took part in a number of different royal events.

Just recently, Style Bistro compared the two women’s first major royal moments starting off with their royal weddings.

Princess Diana wed Prince Charles at St. Paul’s Cathedral in July 1981. The Princess of Wales wore a beautiful wedding gown designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel.

Years later, Prince Harry and Markle tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Markle wore an off-shoulder gown designed by Givenchy Couture.

After her wedding, Princess Diana was photographed during her honeymoon with Prince Charles in Gibraltar. In the photo, the mom of two looked stunning in her white floral dress with matching shoes and a pearl necklace.

Markle’s post-wedding outing was not during her honeymoon. Rather, she attended the 70^th birthday celebration of Prince Charles at the Buckingham Palace. At that time, the Duchess of Sussex was photographed in her semi-sheer, knee-length Goat dress.

In June 1982, Princess Diana attended her first Trooping the Colour. She was photographed in her green maternity dress at the Buckingham Palace. In the photo, Princess Diana is also standing beside Prince Philip.

Years later, Markle also attended her first Trooping the Colour at the Buckingham Palace. She was photographed riding a carriage in her Carolina Herrera dress and a matching pink hat.

In May 1982, Princess Diana went on her first solo outing with Queen Elizabeth II at a polo match in Windsor, England. Markle also went on her first solo outing with the Queen at the opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge in Cheshire.

Princess Diana’s first overseas tour with Prince Charles took place in March 1983 in Australia. Markle’s first overseas tour with Prince Harry was also in Australia in October 2018.
