Princess Diana ‘Pretty But Stupid,’ Kate Middleton ‘Romantic Beauty,’ Karl Lagerfeld Said

Karl Lagerfeld shared his thoughts about Princess Diana and Kate Middleton in his previous interviews.

The Chanel fashion designer passed away on Tuesday after suffering from ill health for weeks. Lagerfeld had been praised by celebrities worldwide. Interestingly, the Sun decided to revisit his controversial opinions about the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Cambridge, Queen Elizabeth II, Camilla Parker Bowles and more.

In 2006, Lagerfeld branded the People’s Princess “stupid” in an interview with New York Magazine. Lagerfeld had the honor to meet Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom in 1997. He was also among the many people who attended Princess Diana’s funeral.

“She was pretty and she was sweet, but she was stupid,” Lagerfeld said of Princess Diana.

On the other hand, Lagerfeld spoke fondly of Prince William’s wife. The designer acknowledged that Middleton has a “nice silhouette” and is “the right girl for that boy.”

“I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties,” Lagerfeld said of Middleton in 2012 following her royal wedding to Prince William in 2011.

However, the fashion critic didn’t approve of Middleton’s sister, Pippa. He said that he didn’t like Pippa’s face and suggested that “she should only show her back.”

In a subsequent interview with Grazia, Lagerfeld explained the controversial comment he gave about Pippa after he made headlines about it. He stressed that what he meant was he didn’t like Pippa’s makeup because she has a round face and round eyes, so she should pick another makeup for her eyes.

Lagerfeld reserved the highest praise for the Middleton women to their mom, Carole Middleton. According to him, Middleton and Pippa’s mom is “very sexy.” He added that Carole is sexier than her two daughters.

Lagerfeld also praised the Queen. He found the monarch as someone who is never ridiculous and added that she’s full of wit and spirit. However, he believed that Queen Elizabeth II shouldn’t be viewed as someone who is changing fashion because Middleton can only do that.

Lagerfeld added that Middleton is “chic in a classic way.” On the other hand, he described Prince Charles’ second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, as someone who is “wilder” than her “Philip Treacy hats.”

Back in January, Middleton’s video side-eyeing Camilla during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding resurfaced. It was clarified later on that the Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge were actually laughing but the former wore a Philip Treacy broad-brimmed hat that kept her face hidden from the camera.
