Princess Diana really loved Prince Charles.

A short video shared on Instagram featured a young Princess Diana and Prince Charles. In the clip, the Prince and Princess of Wales are descending the stairs when Princess Diana reaches out to hold Prince Charles’ hands.

They continue descending the stairs while holding hands. In the video, Princess Diana is very adorable in her patterned dress while Prince Charles looks dapper in his gray suit.

The video was reportedly taken on July 27, 1981.

The netizens noticed that Princess Diana was still so young in the video. Many of them were convinced that Princess Diana really loved Prince Charles based on their gesture. However, one user felt that the future king only used his first wife because Camilla Parker Bowles couldn’t give him kids.

“She was a very very you and girl. She was used and manipulated by the Queen. She knew Camila could not give him any kids,” the online user wrote.

According to royal biographers, Prince Charles upset Princess Diana following Prince Harry’s birth because he didn’t hide his disappointment when he learned that they had a boy. The Prince of Wales wanted a girl, but Princess Diana knew all along that they were expecting another boy.

During Prince Harry’s christening, Prince Charles ruined the event with a cruel remark when he approached Princess Diana’s mom and said, “We were so disappointed — we thought it would be a girl.”

Princess Diana told her biographer Andrew Morton that after Prince Charles’ cruel remark about Prince Harry “something inside me closed off.” Shortly after that, their marriage broke down.

Princess Diana blamed their failed marriage to Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. In her infamous “Panorama” interview, the royal mother of two said, “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”

According to Penny Junor, Princess Diana “publicly executed” Prince Charles in that interview. The biographer added that the People’s Princess made a “superb performance“ in the interview that was worthy of an Oscar.

However, Prince William didn’t like what Princess Diana confessed in the interview. The Duke of Cambridge was reportedly “desperately upset ” that he didn’t speak to his mom after it aired.
