Princess Diana and Prince Charles had a difficult marriage. Royal experts claimed that the two didn’t really love each other but were simply forced to tie the knot. Prince Charles really wanted to be with Camilla Parker Bowles, but Princess Diana seemed like a better option because she was a virgin.

In the book “Prince Charles,” royal author Sally Bedell Smith said that the Prince of Wales was unable to wed the love of his life because Camilla’s father forced the Duchess of Cornwall to marry Andrew Parker Bowles instead.

“They intervened by publishing an engagement notice in The Times on March 15. His hand publicly forced, Andrew proposed to his girlfriend of nearly seven years,” Smith said.
