Princess Diana Was A ‘Wounded Child,’ ‘Disappointment’ Prior To Prince Charles’ Marriage

Princess Diana was a wounded child and she felt that she was a disappointment before she married Prince Charles.

Princess Diana went through a lot of heartbreaking moments in her life even before she joined the royal family. According to her astrologer friend Debbie Frank, the Princess of Wales hired her to help her with her emotions.

“Diana had a lot of early pain from her mother leaving her as a child,” Frank said. “We talked a lot about that, because the damage was so great.”

Princess Diana wasn’t close to her mom and she had a bad relationship with her stepmother Raine, Countess of Dartmouth. However, over time, she managed to overcome her hostility towards her stepmother. She was thankful for her stepmom for looking after her father. Meanwhile, her relationship with her mom remained the same.

“But she couldn’t with her mother. There was a wounded child in there,” Frank continued.

Frank added that the issue within the Spencer family was the desire of Princess Diana’s parents to have a boy to carry on the family line. They had a son named John before Princess Diana. Unfortunately, he died shortly and when Princess Diana was born it added a strain to the family because they wanted an heir. Princess Diana felt that she was a “disappointment.”

“[Diana] understood that her mother probably had postnatal depression and the son who died had a massive bearing,” Frank explained. “Diana was carrying all of her mother’s depression about that, the sense that as a girl she was a disappointment.”

When Princess Diana married Prince Charles, she was determined to keep their marriage. In fact, even if she asked for a trial separation, she didn’t intend to divorce the heir apparent.

During her Panorama interview, Princess Diana admitted to have come from divorced parents and said that she wanted to work harder to make her own marriage work because she didn’t want to fall back into the pattern she had seen in her own family.
