Princess Diana's Death: Henri Paul And Dodi Fayed Are To Blame For Her Untimely Passing, Investigator Claims
Princess Diana is, undeniably, one of the most popular members of the Royal family. When she was still considered a commoner, Diana Frances Spencer received overwhelming attention from the public when she was first linked romantically to Prince Charles. The Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot on July 29, 1981.
Everything seemed fine during the early days of their marriage. However, things started to go south when rumors about Prince Charles' affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles surfaced. Reports have it that the father of Prince William and Princess Harry had been seeing his then-ex-girlfriend behind the back of Princess Diana.
Eventually, Prince Charles and Princess Diana filed for a divorce and had it finalized on Aug. 28, 1996. The mom of two, reportedly, got a lump sum settlement of £17 million and an annual allotment of £400,000. The former lovebirds, reportedly, signed an agreement that banned them from revealing details of their married life and the divorce.
Just a year after the infamous Royal split was finalized, Princess Diana died in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris. Her driver-security guard Henri Paul and alleged boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, were also killed in the crash after suffering fatal injuries. However, her bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, survived.
More than 20 years since Princess Diana’s death, conspiracy theories about the primary cause of her demise continue to make rounds. Speculations are rife that the passing of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom was planned, especially since she, reportedly, expressed concerns she would be murdered. A few months before her death, fashion designer Gianni Versace, who is known to be Diana’s close pal, was shot dead outside his mansion in Miami.
Despite all the theories hounding the princess’ untimely death, renowned investigator Colin McLaren claimed, in “Fatal Voyage: Diana Case Solved” Episode 6, per RadarOnline.com, that the tragic car accident could have been avoided if it were not for the flawed decision making of Henri Paul and Dodi Fayed.
It was claimed the security team of Princess Diana, which Dodi Fayed provided for his alleged girlfriend, was not properly trained to protect Prince Charles’ ex-wife. “Their experience was confined to military operations,” Ken Wharfe, who is a former royal protection officer, said. “They had no real understanding of who this woman was. No one from that team made any attempt to contact anyone at Scotland Yard for any help and assistance or advice [on] how this might work.”
Henri Paul was also to blame as he had “well over the legal level of alcohol in his system” when the car crashed in the tunnel located in the heart of the French capital. The funeral of Princess Diana was held on Sept. 6, 1997, at Westminster Abbey.
