Princess Diana’s Legacy Is Putting Meghan Markle In ‘Danger’ Of Ruining Royal Reputation

When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in 2018, she was adored by a majority of the public who supported the couple’s relationship. More than a year after joining the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex has reportedly made decisions that have caused the public to turn against her.

A few months after the couple’s royal wedding, reports were alleging royal staff members found Meghan difficult to work with.

According to a PR expert, her and Prince Harry’s decision to keep details about baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s birth from the public, along with other attempts to maintain their privacy is ruining their image.

Anthony Burr told Express UK that Meghan’s behavior is starting to make her look ungrateful to British taxpayers. “Harry’s mother, late Princess Diana, used her wits and intelligence to work out how to keep the media onside, and was crowned the People’s Princess,” he explained.

“Let’s hope Meghan can soon work it out too. Otherwise, she will be in danger of becoming known as the ‘Diva Duchess!’”

Although Princess Diana disliked the press, Burr noted that she used the paparazzi to win over the public. As a result, the communications expert advised Meghan to focus on getting people to like her rather than worrying about her privacy.

“There is nothing normal about being part of the Royal Family, and Meghan knew that before she made that commitment. On entering public life, normality is never retained,” he said.

“She can’t have her cake and eat it. It needs to be shared around. In my opinion, she needs to engage a new strategy, and work with the media and the public by cooperating on access at certain times.”

Burr believes Meghan has a chance to salvage her reputation if she satisfies the public’s interest. “If she does this correctly, then she will rarely be questioned when she wants privacy during other periods,” he said.

Following reports of Meghan and Prince Harry’s expensive renovations to Frogmore cottage, and their decision to make Archie’s christening private, the couple has received a lot of criticism.

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have opted to dismiss certain royal traditions, the couple seems to be content with their decisions.
