Princess Diana’s stunning evening gown and eight fashion sketches from one of her favorite designers will go on display at an exhibition at Kensington Palace.

After two years, “Diana: Her Fashion Story” will be closing on Sunday, Feb. 17 to make way for Queen Victoria’s exhibition that will open in May. But since the Princess of Wales played an important part in the palace’s history, there will be a new small display dedicated to her.

The exhibition will feature Princess Diana’s Catherine Walker-designed evening dress, which she wore at a 1988 state dinner in Bangkok. The dress will be displayed alongside one of her favorite designers David Sassoon’s works. A drawing of Princess Diana’s maternity dress, while she was pregnant with Prince William, will be part of the display.

Another sketch will feature the Princess of Wales’ blue suit that she wore to an official royal engagement in 1986. A sketch for the dress she wore to the premiere of “Backdraft” at Leicester Square in 1991 will also be included.

“There was a tremendous change from the shy little girl who I had initially dressed to this overtly glamorous woman. She was very charismatic as a person, not just because she was a princess. She had this caring quality. She had compassion,” Sassoon told Daily Mail.

In related news, Princess Diana also made headlines today after her surprising connection with Meghan Markle’s former school was revealed. According to People, Princess Diana visited Northwestern University 22 years ago. Markle received her education from the same institution.

However, Markle enrolled at Northwestern University three years after Princess Diana’s visit so there was no way for their paths to have crossed that time. The Princess of Wales visited the school to raise money for the university’s Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center since she was the president of London’s Royal Marsden Hospital and its Cancer Fund years ago.
