Princess Eugenie Experiences Same Royal Wedding Mishap Kate Middleton Did
Princess Eugenie now shares a common wedding mishap with Kate Middleton.
During Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's royal wedding at St. George's Chapel on Friday, the latter ran into a problem when it came into fitting the Welsh gold wedding band on the bride's finger. The ring didn't fit right away.
In the clip shared by People, Brooksbank can be seen making a silly face as he struggles to push the ring down. Princess Eugenie helped his groom adjust it.
The publication noted that it wasn't the first royal wedding wherein the bride and groom experienced this mishap. Prince William also ran into the same problem when he couldn't get Middleton's wedding band past her knuckle. It was later learned that Middleton requested to have the wedding ring in a smaller size so it won't slip off her finger.
Aside from enduring the same mishap on their wedding day, Princess Eugenie and Middleton's engagement rings were similar. However, many believe that Brooksbank didn't copy the design of Middleton's which was originally the one Prince Charles used when proposed to Princess Diana. It was just passed down to the Duchess of Cambridge.
"Although Princess Eugenie's engagement ring is reminiscent of Kate's with the large center sapphire and diamond surround, it's a very classic design for a royal engagement ring and not likely an intentional similarity," royal commentator Eloise Parker said.
Jamie Samhan, deputy editor at Royal Central also believed that if Brooksbank has an inspiration in designing the band it's not Middleton's but Sarah Ferguson's.
"When Jack Brooksbank proposed to Princess Eugenie, he created a ring that was very similar to her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York's, ring," Samhan explained.
In related news, Princess Eugenie dyed her hair red just days before her big day. The Duke and Duchess of York's youngest daughter was photographed with a minimal makeup and red hair.
Princess Eugenie's decision to color her locks in that shade is a sign that she gives a nod to her mom. Ferguson is popular for being a redhead.
In fact, before Ferguson's controversial photos with her financial advisor, John Bryan, landed on the front pages of the tabloid, the late Princess of Wales called Richard Kay and told him, "The redhead's in trouble."
