Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie may live a luxurious royal lifestyle, but they have problems just like everyone else. At least, that’s the image they tried to portray in a 2018 Vogue interview.

In the interview titled, “Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie On Keeping It Real,” the sisters appeared to complain about the impact their Royal ties have had on their social lives.

During a podcast episode of “Pod Save the Queen” in 2018, Daily Mirror Royal editor Russell Myers slammed Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice for trying to act like they were “down-to-earth.”

“It’s pretty cringeworthy in my opinion. The very fact that they are talking about the pressures of their personal lives, about being young independent women while being members of the Royal Family – it’s just a bit too much to stomach for some people, myself included,” Myers said.

While Meyers believes there are humble members of the royal family, like Prince William and Prince Harry, the editor claims Beatrice and Eugenie are not like their cousins.

“I just think, this just smacks of delusions of grandeur. If they want to be taken seriously talking about their charity work, which they do do, they’ve got to bring themselves back down to earth,” Meyers explained.

“If they’re trying to appeal to a market where they do want to be taken seriously, it just seems a tad silly,” she added.

The commentator noted that Beatrice and Eugenie have yet to show they are “real” and similar to everyone else. “It’s just a tad ridiculous that they are saying this,” Myers said.

“They’ve been heavily criticized in the past about the number of extravagant holidays they’re taking while not being too conscientious in their work life. They have these roles, quite fancy jobs, not too sure what they do at work.”

While the interview may have been a great opportunity for Vogue, it seems the conversation failed to resonate with readers the way Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice may have hoped.
