Princess Eugenie’s Fiancé Jack Brooksbank ‘Not Most Intelligent’ Man, Says His Grandmother
Princess Eugenie’s fiancé, Jack Brooksbank, may not be as intelligent as he appears to be.
His 91-year-old grandmother, Joanna Newton, told Daily Mail that she never though Brooksbank will marry a royal.
“He’s a charming boy and all but not the most intelligent and I would never have thought this would happen,” she said candidly.
Newton also said that Princess Eugenie’s love for Brooksbank says a lot about the royal’s personality.
“I think it says a lot about Eugenie that it’s him she wants and it’s lovely,” the grandmother said.
Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank announced their engagement earlier this year. They started dating years ago after meeting during a ski trip. Their relationship stood the test of time, and they managed to make it work even after Princess Eugenie moved to New York.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the parents of Princess Eugenie, also love Brooksbank. Following their engagement, Prince Andrew released a statement about his daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law’s relationship.
“Jack is an absolutely outstanding young man and he and Eugenie have got to know each other over a number of years, and I’m really thrilled for them. I’m just completely overjoyed for them and wish them every happiness,” he said.
Ferguson, who has two daughters, also said that she’s looking forward to the union because she will finally have a son.
Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank will tie the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. Their wedding will be attended by the members of the royal family, Brooksbank’s family, and the couple’s friends and colleagues.
Following the ceremony, Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank’s guests will head to St. George’s Hall for a lunch reception. On the night of their wedding day, Prince Andrew will be hosting a more intimate gathering at the Royal Lodge. On Oct. 13, a more relaxed party will be held at the Royal Lodge again.
