Princess Eugenie’s Pal Jack Whitehall Jokes About Queen ‘Killing’ Fergie With Crossbow
Princess Eugenie’s friend, Jack Whitehall, recently joked about Queen Elizabeth II and Sarah Ferguson while hosting the BAFTA’s Britannia Awards in Los Angeles.
Whitehall, who was present at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, hinted that “Game of Thrones” would have gotten more viewers if it ended with the Queen killing Ferguson with a crossbow. The comedian’s statement after he spotted “Game of Thrones” bosses DB Weiss and David Benioff in the audience.
“How much do you wish they had done the royal wedding? Oh my God. How many viewers would they have got if it ended with the Queen killing Fergie with a crossbow?” he said (via The Sun).
Whitehall was referring to hit television series’ success in 2013 where it garnered 1 million viewers with the “Red Wedding” episode. But the number of audiences that tuned in to the show still didn’t compare to the millions of people that watched the royal wedding. Unfortunately, it was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials and not Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s.
In related news, it was reported earlier this month that Princess Eugenie invited Whitehall to her big day in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. His fellow comedians Jamie Redknapp, Jimmy Carr, and Stephen Fry were also there.
After the ceremony, Whitehall and Redknapp were spotted leaving the church together while chatting their hearts out. The former also tweeted about the royal wedding on Oct. 12.
“Wonderful day in Windsor celebrating the nuptials of the awesome Eugenie and Jack. Had fun trying to pass off Jamie Redknapp to Americans as a dignitary called Rupert Redknapp. The Duke of Hampton,” he joked.
According to Bustle, Whitehall and Redknapp are good friends in real life. They both starred in Sky One’s “A League of Their Own,” which was presented by James Corden. They also appeared in the spinoff “A League of Their Own U.S. Road Trip” after Whitehall quit the original show.
