Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas Bought LA Home In 2019 With Kids On Their Mind

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed a child via surrogacy on Jan. 15, but it seems like the two of them had children on their minds for quite some time, back from when they got a home together in 2019.

When the couple narrowed down on their Encino, Calif. mansion together, they made sure the home was one suitable for children, a source revealed exclusively to People.

​​"When they bought the house together, they had children in mind. They were hoping to have kids and needed a place with a lot of outdoor space and greenery," the source told the publication.

Not just that, the "Jonas Brothers" singer and the "Matrix Resurrections" star, who got married in 2018, "spent months renovating the house," after they moved in. "They wanted to make it more family-friendly," the source shared.

Jonas, 29, and Chopra, 39, reportedly paid a whopping $20 million for their home, making it one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Encino, a suburban neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, Dirt reported at the time.

The couple surprised fans when they announced Friday the arrival of their child via social media. There is speculation that the baby is a girl.

"We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family," Chopra and Jonas wrote in joint posts on their respective Instagram feeds.

Chopra and Jonas have also spoken about how they wish to grow their family when the time is right previously. "They're a big part of our desire for the future. By God's grace, when it happens, it happens," she told Vanity Fair during an interview.

Despite the two being busy in their respective careers, Chopra joked that they're "not too busy to practice" making a baby. She added that they're "both okay" with the busy pace in their professional lives and will slow down when the time calls for it.

Chopra and Jonas's newborn baby is the fourth child in the Jonas family, which includes Kevin Jonas' daughters Valentina Angelina, 5, and Alena Rose, 7, along with Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's baby girl Willa, 1, whom they welcomed on July 22, 2020.
